Palestinian American Research Center The mission of the Palestinian American Research Center (PARC), formed in 1998, is to improve scholarship about Palestinian issues, expand the pool of experts knowledgeable about the Palestinians, and strengthen linkages among Palestinian, American, and foreign research institutions and scholars. Pre- and post-doctoral awards underwrite research in a wide range of fields, including history, literature, anthropology, sociology, economics, political science, health sciences, and museology. |
The American Academic Research Institute in Iraq The American Academic Research Institute in Iraq (TAARII – formerly the American Association for Research in Baghdad, AARB) was founded in 1989 by a consortium of American universities, colleges, and museums, in order to promote scholarly research on Iraq and exchange between American and Iraqi scholars. The Gulf War and subsequent U.N. sanctions on Iraq caused the organization to suspend its activities. It remained dormant until 2003. |
West African Research Association The West African Research Association (WARA) was founded in 1989 for the purpose of promoting scholarly exchange and collaboration between American and West African researchers and institutions. The principal objectives of WARA are: to provide American and West African scholars access to research resources and expand research opportunities; to create a point of contact for American and West African researchers, allowing the intersection of their respective research traditions; to facilitate collaborative research efforts, projects, and conferences; to reinforce institutions on both sides of the Atlantic; to supplement sources of documentation about the region; to award fellowships to both American and West African scholars; and to disseminate information on West Africa-related research. Since 2001, the American headquarters of WARA has been based in the African Studies Center of Boston University. |
