A New Digital Resource for Access to Middle East Research Journals

The Council of American Overseas Research Centers and the Digital Library for International Research program are very pleased to announce the launch of "Middle East Research Journals," a new digital web resource that provides free access to journals published in the Middle East. This resource is designed for use by the general public, college and university educators, and students nationwide. It includes:

• A searchable Online Union Catalog of library resources from the American Overseas Research Centers including over 2,000 Middle East Journals cataloged by this project.

• A searchable index searchable index to three key titles in Middle East studies:

• Journal of the Palestine Oriental Society, Jerusalem, 1920-1948 
• Quarterly of the Department of Antiquities in Palestine, London, 1931-1950 
• Sumer, Baghdad, 1945-1959, 1960-1965, update to 1966-2000

• A digital library with the full text of five noteworthy Middle East journals:

• Arkeoloji Dergisi, Izmir, 1991-1998 
• Arkeoloji-sanat Tarihi Dergisi, Izmir, 1984-1996 
• Bogazici University Journal-Beseri Bilimler, Istanbul, 1973-1981 
• Bulletin of the Israel Exploration Society, 1933-1967 
• Revue archéologique syrienne, Aleppo, 1931-1938

• Preservation microfilm of the following five titles has been stored at the Center for Research Libraries.

• Arkeoloji Dergisi, Izmir, 1991-1998 
• Arkeoloji-sanat Tarihi Dergisi, Izmir, 1984-1996 
• Bogazici University Journal-Beseri Bilimler, Istanbul, 1973-1981
